4 'hidden' hotels-within-hotels that offer an elevated Las Vegas experience

Most hotels in Las Vegas are easy to see—from the Strip, from the highway, even from space—but some of the city’s best offerings are hiding in plain sight.

“Hidden hotels” tucked away inside some of Vegas’ most famous resorts offer a unique twist on a luxury stay, one where guests enjoy an exclusive premium experience plus easy access to the larger resort’s amenities.

“They all offer their own specific idiosyncrasies in terms of the amenities, the services, and the experience,” says Corey Deal, luxury travel services manager with MGM Resorts. Corey spoke with us to give us an inside look at 4 of these hotels-within-hotels.

1. The NoMad Las Vegas

Hidden inside: Park MGM

Come here to find: Old World French styling, a 25,000-book library, clawfoot tubs, billiards tables, oak floors, and marble tiles

Part of the NoMad family of hotels, this boutique establishment occupies the top 4 floors of Park MGM, but feels like it’s at a palatial French estate. “NoMad really was built to provide a different ambiance and a different styling from almost anywhere else in Las Vegas,” Corey says. With 239 rooms, he says it’s much more intimate than most of its neighbors—“In Las Vegas, you’d be hard-pressed to find a hotel that has less than 2,000”—but still attainable for the everyday traveler, with smaller room options for couples.

He explains that French architect Jacques Garcia, a native of Paris, looked to the Beaux-Arts influences of his hometown when styling the hotel. Guests can see this in the oak hardwood floors, velvet and leather furniture, original artwork, and even the styling of the private entrance and elevators.

The NoMad’s most show-stopping amenity is the NoMad Library Restaurant. Situated inside a 2-floor antique library, it’s filled with 25,000 real books, some of which date to the 1800s. “The collection was tailored after the personal recommendations of the Rockefeller family,” Corey says, and some of the books come from the collection of David Rockefeller himself. Diners are welcome to read whatever they like, Corey adds: “When my wife and I sat down and had our dinner, I quite literally just picked a history of Louis Vuitton off the shelf.”

Other amenities include the NoMad Bar, which Corey says mixes handcrafted cocktails “very unlike anything you’ll find throughout the rest of Park MGM,” as well as the full array of Park MGM dining options. Chef Roy Choi’s Korean barbecue restaurant Best Friend, the Eataly Italian marketplace, and the upscale Bavette’s Steakhouse & Bar are just a few. If that’s not enough, Corey points out that T-Mobile Arena is right next door, making NoMad an ideal lodging for visiting sports fans.

In the rooms, Corey points to European touches like the clawfoot and pedestal tubs found in the larger suites, as well as folding room dividers, velvet window seats, a mahogany writing desk, and Art Deco bathroom accents. He says the hotel’s most exclusive accommodations, the 1,600-square-foot Suite Royale and 2,000-square-foot Suite Royale Premiere, are ideal for entertaining: “We have pool tables in them, and we take those other unique accents to a further degree.”

2. Aria Sky Suites

Hidden inside: Aria Resort & Casino

Come here to find: Complimentary limo service, astounding views, marble-floored penthouses, whirlpool tubs, and steam showers

As the proud recipient of a AAA Five Diamond designation, Aria Resort & Casino is already renowned for luxury, but its Aria Sky Suites hotel-within-a-hotel ascends to an even higher level. For guests who book a 2-bedroom suite, Corey says the experience begins before even getting to the hotel: “They include a complimentary limousine to and from the airport, where upon your arrival, you're greeted by a member of our concierge and escorted directly to the Sky Suites lounge.”

If you arrive at the lounge between 4 and 9 in the evening, you’ll enjoy complimentary red and house white wine, along with snacks, pastries, and fruit.

Upon entering your accommodations, the first thing that stands out will likely be the sweeping views from floor-to-ceiling windows. “Sky Suites is on the 25th floor and above in the southern portion of Aria,” Corey says. “We picked that location because that’s where we believe the best views exist.”

City View suites face the northern part of the Strip; Mountain View suites face the scenic Spring Mountains and Mojave Desert west of town. For an even more expansive view, consider a corner suite.

Corey says suites come in 2 classes: Sky Suites and Penthouse Sky Suites. “The Penthouse Suites will have more marble flooring. They will, for the most part, add a dining room with a full wet bar.” Unlike Aria’s standard rooms, both types of Sky Suites feature aerated soaking tubs—sometimes called “air baths” or “bubble tubs”—that massage bathers, as well as oversized showers big enough for 2. The Penthouse Suites step up even further with steam showers, hydrotherapy, and aromatherapy, essentially turning the suite into a mini-spa.

Sky Suites visitors also get exclusive access to the secluded Sky Pool, which features poolside massages and complimentary refreshments. When it comes to food, “a lot of the ‘It’ spots here in Las Vegas exist within Aria: Cathedral, Catch, Carbone,” Corey says, and Sky Suites guests get preferred dining reservations. And if you’re looking for a reservation anywhere else on the Strip, Sky Suites also come with a personal concierge.

3. Skylofts at MGM Grand

Hidden inside: MGM Grand

Come here to find: Expansive 2-floor lofts, room to entertain, 24-hour personal butler service, a pillow menu, infinity tubs, and immersion steam showers

“Skylofts are about as exclusive as they get,” Corey says. Located on top of the massive MGM Grand, Skylofts come in 1, 2, and 3-bedroom varieties. Each one has a 2-story layout with the bedrooms on the second floor, with the first floor dedicated to entertaining. “They fit bachelor parties well, graduations, occasions of all kinds,” he says. “In a 2-bedroom loft, the first floor can entertain up to 40 people at one time, and it guarantees either a foosball or pool table.”

Skylofts’ calling card is its exceptional amenities and service. “Because there are only 51 lofts, they afford a higher staff-to-guest ratio,” Corey explains. “We offer 24-hour butler services in every reservation, and in my opinion, it’s one of the most experienced butler staffs anywhere in the city.”

And while guests can enjoy the restaurants in the MGM Grand in person, they can also send their Skyloft butler to retrieve meals from 23 of the resort’s restaurants for an in-loft dining experience.

Then there’s the concierge. “I always like to say the Skylofts probably have the most powerful concierge in Las Vegas,” Corey says. “When they call, whether it’s a restaurant or a nightlife host, we’re going to receive priority seating because the Skylofts are that exclusive.”

Where most hotels issue everyone the same standard pillow, stay at Skylofts and you can pick your favorite pillow from the hotel’s pillow menu, which Corey says features over 20 individual types. In the bathroom, you’ll find infinity-style tubs that caress with champagne-style bubbles, as well as immersion showers that feature multiple showerheads and double as steam rooms.

Guests at Skylofts are also invited to the MGM Grand VIP lounge, typically reserved for high-limit casino players, where they can enjoy light beverages and appetizers throughout the day.

4. The Mansion at MGM Grand

Hidden inside: MGM Grand

Come here to find: One of the single most exclusive places to stay in Las Vegas

“There are many hotels," Corey explains, "that we refer to as ‘Bigfoots.’ The people that know about them, know about them. People that don’t know about them, don’t believe they exist. The Mansion is probably the purest example of that.”

You won’t find an online link for reservations at The Mansion. Bookings are available only to those MGM Resorts describes as “qualified guests,” who must call to inquire. Accommodations are provided in 30 individual villas, with the whole property modeled after an 18th-century Tuscan estate. The smallest villa is 2,400 square feet, with the largest spanning 12,000 square feet.

“Every detail is of the utmost importance at The Mansion,” Corey says. “There are butlers on staff waiting on you hand and foot.” Any housekeeper or butler you see on the property stands at the ready to assist you wherever you might find them, he adds. “The overall rule here is that if it can be done both ethically and legally, no matter what it is, we can get it done. Whether that be sushi at 2 in the morning or a vehicle at your disposal, we are happy to assist with quite literally anything.”

The Mansion’s private dining room offers 2 separate lunch and dinner menus for Mansion guests only. Visitors staying at Skylofts can get a taste of Mansion dining—not to mention a look at the stately, plush property—with breakfast and brunch reservations when there is availability.

Villas offer 1, 2, 3, or 4 bedrooms, with even the smallest one including a parlor, dining room, powder room, and pantry. Jetted bathtubs and steam showers are standard. Larger villas include a private indoor pool, study, and exercise room. As Corey says, “You may only walk about 30 steps, but you feel as though you are in a different world.”
